Netherlands.

Sorry for the delayed posts. Work has gotten the best of me lately.

Last weekend I spent an exhausting amount of time in the Netherlands. Before you get your hopes up, I did not spend it in the Red Light District of Amsterdam. Sorry.

No, I travelled on Saturday morning to the administrative capitol of Holland, Den Haag. Like most European cities I've been to, it has adorable architecture and an abundance of canals. We dropped our luggage off at the hotel, took advantage of a free bathroom, and then skipped off to the Mauritshuis Museum. The museum houses many very famous paintings, including Girl with a Pearl Earing.

After about half an hour, I was bored to death. I guess I'm not very cultured but I can only take so much art before it all starts to blur together and every piece looks the same. Virgin Mary with Jesus, rich guy that paid the painter, Virgin Mary with Jesus, etc, etc...I'm not a big art person as you can tell...

When we finally left the museum, we were all starving so we split up to eat lunch. I made the stupid decision of going with a group that didn't include the two Dutch-speaking people in our entourage. I can't speak a word of the language, so I just closed my eyes and pointed at the menu, because I couldn't do much worse at it. Whatever I ordered was delicious. It ended up being a sort of chicken and mayonnaise (of course) sandwich.

To be continued after I eat far too much dinner...
